Technical Confinement is the last phase of the global waste management, treatment and recovery system. What was once a waste dump, a place for waste disposal, was transformed into a Landfill, which is an essential infrastructure that completes the integrated management cycle, designed and executed to promote respect for life and the environment. Waste reduction, reuse and recycling are the main goals of modern waste management policies. However, at the end of the process, we have to deal with the waste that couldn't be recovered through multi-material, organic and energy recovery.

 

 

 

The Landfill of Maia, next to the Energy Recovery Plant, receives by-products that result from the thermal treatment and waste recovery process that takes place in the Plant, and raw waste that cannot be treated in any of Lipor's industrial treatment plants.
