“A day that changes everything” mobilises participants for waste prevention through small everyday actions

Reducing consumption, repairing instead of replacing and reusing goods are simple gestures that can make a real difference in waste prevention. With this purpose in mind, LIPOR promoted another edition of "A day that changes everything”, an initiative dedicated to raising awareness for more sustainable consumption habits and to promoting the circular economy.

Throughout the afternoon, the event brought together a range of practical and educational activities, encouraging participants to adopt more responsible behaviours while showing that sustainable choices can lead to resources and money savings.

Among the activities we promoted a Repair Café, where small electrical appliances and clothing items could be repaired; a showcooking session focused on food leftovers use; a swap market organised in partnership with Lets Swap; and the presentation of the "Messy” fashion collection, created from textile waste and developed by interns from the Porto Fashion School.

The initiative achieved significant results: nine electrical and electronic devices were repaired, and seven clothing items gained a new life through small adjustments. The swap market saw 653 items circulate, promoting reuse and extending the life cycle of various goods. In addition, 35 participants learned new ways to make creative recipes using leftovers from the Santos Populares festivities, while four interns from the Porto Fashion School presented an upcycling collection produced from textile waste.

With yet another edition of "Dia Muda Tudo” (a day that changes everything), LIPOR once again demonstrated that waste prevention is a collective commitment and that small everyday actions can generate a meaningful environmental impact, drive the circular economy and contribute to household savings. These are the gestures that distinguish the "Natives of LIPOR” - born for a sustainable lifestyle.
