Applications are open for the 6th edition of the ClimateLaunchpad

The applications for the sixth edition of the ClimateLaunchpad, the biggest competition of clean technology in the world, are now open. The organization of this competition, in Portugal, is the responsibility of UPTEC, LIPOR, Smart Waste Portugal and the Portuguese Pact for Plastics.

This international program is based on supporting business ideas that reduce the negative impact on the environment.

ClimateLaunchpad can apply for cleantech business ideas - related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, agriculture, water, transport, circular economy and much more.
Since the beginning of this competition, in 2014, almost 10,000 innovative and clean business ideas have applied to the ClimateLaunchpad. In 2020, at a time when the program took place completely online, 3,000 projects were submitted, with 679 teams selected to participate in more than 270 bootcamps spread across 56 countries around the world.

In this sixth edition of the program and in a first phase, the projects selected for an opportunity to participate in an online course developed at EIT Climate-KIC. In the second phase, a maximum of ten teams will be chosen to develop their business idea in an intensive three-day bootcamp with an EIT Climate-KIC certified trainer. Participants also have follow-up sessions with experienced mentors in the areas of sustainability and the circular economy, including professionals from the organizations that organize this environmental program in Portugal.
In addition, the teams receive support to prepare a pitch for their business idea, which will be evaluated by a panel of experts at the National Final.

The three winners of the National Final, in addition to the opportunity to represent Portugal in the European Final, will have access to free incubation at UPTEC for three months and, also, to 1000 euros worth in training at the Ordem dos Engenheiros - Norte Region, sponsor of ClimateLaunchpad in Portugal.

This is already the sixth edition of ClimateLaunchpad which, in Portugal, has already supported almost 50 teams and received more than 90 applications. In 2018, the big winner of the international final was the Portuguese project Eco2Blocks, in competition with more than 1000 teams.

Applications are open until May 16. Find out more about this competition and register here
