Delegation from the Brazilian Municipality of Juiz de Fora visits LIPOR
A delegation of representatives from the Municipality of Juiz de Fora, located in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, carried out a working visit to LIPOR this week, with the aim of deepening their knowledge of innovative models for the management, recovery, and treatment of urban waste.
The visit was part of a broader tour across Europe, where the Brazilian delegation is learning about some of the best practices in the sector. Despite their busy schedule, the representatives highlighted the importance and the quality of the work developed by LIPOR.
The journey began with a detailed presentation on Lipor’s history and activities, followed by a technical visit to the Recycling Circuit. At this facility, the representatives from Juiz de Fora were able to observe firsthand the automatic sorting process for recyclable materials such as plastic, paper, cardboard, and metals collected through selective collection.
The next stop on the itinerary was the Composting Plant. Here, the treatment process for the organic fraction of waste was demonstrated, namely through composting, which transforms biowaste into a high-quality compost for agricultural use, known as Nutrimais. This recovery model, which diverts biodegradable waste from landfill, sparked particular interest among the Brazilian delegation.
At the end of the visit, the representatives from the Municipality of Juiz de Fora expressed their deep gratitude for LIPOR’s warm welcome and knowledge sharing. They emphasized their admiration for the "magnificent work” carried out by our organization, considering it an inspiration for the challenges that Brazil faces in the field of waste management.
