Green Heart LIPOR: Engineering Regiment No. 3 promotes the Collection!

Committed to the environmental cause, the Engineering Regiment No. 3 (RE3) at Paramos, Espinho, applied for the Green Heart Certification to optimize its good environmental management practices and foster its sustainable behaviours.

During this process, the Regiment RE3 expanded its good practices and joined the "Cork by Cork, Sow the Collection" Project, extending the collection of cork stoppers effort to the entire Intervention Brigade.

Since embracing this challenge in November 2024, they have already collected 34 kg of cork stoppers, equivalent to 6,800 cork stoppers. As a result, around 136 native trees will be delivered to the Engineering Regiment No. 3 and other Intervention Brigade Units to be planted!

This cork collection initiative is part of the Water-Energy Efficiency, Sustainability, and Environmental Protection Project (PEEHSPA) of the Intervention Brigade.

And we’re not stopping here! The cork stoppers collection challenge continues in 2025!

Becoming a Green Heart means being part of a more sustainable community every day.

This project, developed by Quercus, LIPOR, and its Associated Municipalities, aims to promote cork recycling and contribute to reforestation in Portugal. For every 50 cork stoppers collected, one native tree will be planted in partnership with BA Vidro, Amorim, and Extruplás.
