Horta de Espinho: when teamwork blossoms in the community

Espinho’s Urban Garden was filled with energy and a spirit of mutual support with a team-building activity that brought together 16 gardeners, the Horta à Porta Project team and a representative from Espinho City Council.

The challenge was simple but meaningful: to improve access to the space, making it safer and more welcoming for everyone. With tools in hand and high spirits, the community rolled up their sleeves and transformed slippery areas into safe passageways, tending to the grounds with the same dedication with which they tend to the land they cultivate.

More than just creating physical conditions, the morning was an exercise in cooperation. Each gesture contributed to a greater goal: strengthening the community spirit and reaffirming the collective commitment to making this urban garden a space for well-being, sharing and sustainability.

The meeting ended deliciously – literally - with a shared snack, symbolising the celebration of the achievements and the unity among all participants.
