LIPOR carries out technical mission on the Island of Maio
LIPOR International – Global Waste Management will be present on the Ilha do Maio, Cabo Verde, from 25 to 29 May, for another technical mission as part of the development of the CITRES Project – Integrated Centre for Collection and Treatment of Solid Waste of the Island of Maio.
Developed in partnership with Camões, I.P., the mission’s main objective is to carry out technical and operational activities associated with the implementation of the WAYSTE digital platform, a strategic decision-support tool to be implemented at the Câmara Municipal do Maio, which will strengthen operational management and optimize the urban waste system.
The platform will also enable the monitoring of key statistical indicators and the creation of a reliable database for tracking the Island of Maio’s urban waste system, contributing to the strengthening of monitoring and reporting processes in the sector at a national level.
Local coordination meetings are also planned, promoting the involvement of different stakeholders in the implementation of the CITRES Project.
A further technical mission is already being planned for the end of September. In this context, a Stakeholder Engagement Workshop will be organized, an essential initiative for dialogue and transparency with stakeholders, aimed at understanding different perspectives, aligning expectations, and fostering greater ownership and acceptance of the project among the interested parties.
CITRES is a project funded by the União Europeia and Camões, I.P., with the participation of LIPOR as the implementing partner and waste management specialist and has been underway since 2024.
