LIPOR Registers WAYSTE Trademark in the European Union, Consolidating the Platform's Success

In February 2025, LIPOR successfully registered the WAYSTE trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), ensuring legal protection for its innovative waste management platform. Developed internally by LIPOR, WAYSTE has been transforming waste management practices across its associated municipalities.

This milestone follows the platform's recognition in 2024, when it was honored with the National Innovation Award in the Business Segment – Public Sector category. WAYSTE exemplifies technological innovation in environmental management by integrating a continuous data flow and offering tools to monitor, analyse, and optimise waste management processes.

Since its inception in 2018, WAYSTE has stood out for its robustness and scalability, managing over 97,000 daily records. The platform is essential for controlling and tracking waste collection operations, providing efficient management of urban waste systems. It enables municipalities to monitor project performance, analyse customer participation, and assess the efficiency of equipment installed in public spaces.

WAYSTE includes an Android application that facilitates field operations, allowing teams to record collections, alerts, photographs, and other relevant information in real time. The platform also excels in creating user profiles, enabling personalized awareness campaigns, and is crucial for implementing Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) systems, aligning with the goals of PERSU 2030.

The trademark registration is a crucial step in ensuring the platform's legal protection as it enters the European market. LIPOR takes pride in this achievement, positioning WAYSTE as a reference product in waste management and sustainability.
