Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde receives the Green Heart Certification from LIPOR

Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde (SCMVC), in collaboration with the Municipality of Vila do Conde and LIPOR, has been developing a series of initiatives in the field of sustainable economy. Among the highlighted projects are waste prevention and recycling at the source, including implementing "Dose Certa", a measure aimed at reducing food waste and promoting recycling to increase the amount of multimaterial waste collected.

On February 20, 2025, several SCMVC units officially received the Coração Verde (Green Heart) Certificate, which recognizes organisations for their environmental and sustainability best practices. The certified units include: the Elderly Care Home (LTI), the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic (CMFR), the Children's Home (CC), the Casa das Rosas (CR), the Support and Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities (CARPD), the Social Center in Macieira (CSM), the Professor Doctor Jorge Azevedo Maia Rehabilitation Center (CRPDJAM), and the Integrated Continuous Care Unit (UCCI).

During this process, SCMVC installed approximately 235 recycling containers and removed around 49 mixed waste bins. Additionally, 21 awareness campaigns were conducted, involving about 308 employees, emphasizing the importance of incorporating sustainable practices into daily life.

The Green Heart Certification was awarded during the Social Talks – Sustainability with Purpose event, organized by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde. This event highlighted the institution's and its partners' dedication to creating a more sustainable environment and promoting ecological practices in several areas of social intervention.
