Summer feels better when we take good care of it.

There are things that never fail on a beach day: a towel, sunscreen, sunglasses… But this summer we want to add a few more essentials to your bag, because enjoying summer also means protecting the places where we create our best memories.

All the litter found in the oceans comes from human activity. Around 80 percent originates on land, reaching the sea through rivers, sewage systems or rubbish left on beaches. The remaining 20 percent comes from maritime activities, mainly fishing and shipping. And when we consider that a simple plastic bottle can take around 450 years to decompose, we realise that small actions can have a huge impact.

This summer, we want to raise awareness of the impact of our individual actions, highlight the urgency of changing behaviours and share simple practices of preservation, sustainability and respect for Nature.

Get Ready With Me: the essentials for a more sustainable summer
  • Take a reusable bottle | Hydration is essential. Bring water from home and avoid buying yet another plastic bottle.
  • Prepare a lunch bag | Carry your food in cloth bags or reusable containers.
  • Avoid disposables | If you go to a cafe or restaurant, say no to straws and other single use items.
  • Choose reusable options | Picnics and snacks taste even better with reusable cups, plates and cutlery.
  • Take care of the beach | Bring a bag to store your waste until you find a recycling point.
  • Inspire those around you | Share these small actions with friends and family. Leading by example also spreads.
  • Be part of the change | Join a beach clean-up initiative or organise one. Caring for beaches is caring for the future.
This summer, take more than the usual essentials. Watch our "Get Ready With Me" (video in Portuguese) and discover the essentials for a more sustainable season
