Photovoltaic Plant of LIPOR’s Composting Plant has already produced about 234 MWh of Clean Energy

As part of its 4M strategy - Less Waste, Less Carbon, More Climate and More Biodiversity, LIPOR listed a set of actions that aim to contribute to the objectives of the European Energy and Climate Strategy 2030, the National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 and the Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality 2050, through the carbon/energy binomial as a point of convergence and alignment for decarbonization and energy transition.

In this sense, LIPOR, in cooperation with Hidurbe and Endesa, promoted the installation of a Photovoltaic Production Unit for Self-consumption (UPAC) on the roof of the Composing Plant, at its facilities in Baguim do Monte.

In the first two months of activity, this installation produced around 234 MWh, corresponding to a monthly average of 117 MWh. The energy produced at the plant has reduced the unit energy dependence by 34.14%. At the same time, there was a surplus of around 14.73 MWh which was injected into the National Grid as clean and renewable energy, contributing to the decarbonization of the energy sector, while enhancing the energy transition contributing to a more renewable national mix.
