Training Programme for the European Week of Prevention: book now on your agenda!

In 2022, the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) will take place from 19 to 27 November and will be themed "Circular & Sustainable Textiles: Waste is out of fashion".

This theme aims to highlight the strong impact that textiles have on our planet, but mainly to inspire actions that bring more circularity to the textile sector.
Fashion is one of the ways that human beings use to express themselves. Behind the red carpets, fashion shows and sales is a massive industry that employs over 1.5 million people in Europe alone. But the other side of the coin tells a different, less brilliant and far more alarming story.

The textile and clothing industry is one of the most polluting sectors, along with housing, transport and food. This is caused by the strong impact it has on land use, water pollution and even greenhouse gas emissions. This sector has a high environmental and social impact at all stages: from production, distribution, use and post-use (collection, sorting, recycling and final waste management, which is most often related to incineration and landfills).
It is urgent to take measures to minimize these effects and we all have a responsibility to participate in the solution!

LIPOR will develop a training course to clarify this topic and give ideas of initiatives to be put into practice.
