First year of CITRES project: LIPOR submits activity report to Camões I.P. and the European Commission

As part of the CITRES Project - Integrated Solid Waste Collection and Treatment Center on Maio Island in Cape Verde, LIPOR, as the technical implementing partner, prepared and submitted the activity report for 2024 to Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P. and the European Commission.

This document reflects the technical actions carried out by LIPOR in the first year of the project, highlighting the progress made in implementing an efficient system for the collection, treatment and recovery of municipal waste on the island of Maio, helping to strengthen the Maio Municipal Council's capacity for sustainable waste management.

The first year of the project was dedicated to setting up the site, preparing and launching the tender procedures for the essential technical studies, designing the technical solution for selective collection, which will have an impact on future operations, mapping the key stakeholders, defining a strategy for involving and empowering specific target groups and the project's branding strategy with the definition of the identity, website structure and various supporting pieces.

The CITRES Maio Project is co-financed by the European Union and Portuguese Cooperation, through Camões, I.P., which, in addition to financial support, ensures the implementation of the project under the delegated cooperation model.

This project represents a significant step forward in promoting the circular economy, environmental preservation and improving the quality of life on Maio Island.
