Flashback to LIPOR's international activities in 2024 and you can easily grasp three major ideas:
CHANGING THE WORLD - LIPOR is the only public entity in the Portuguese waste management sector to act in an international technical assistance context, transforming and improving the geographical areas where it operates, thus contributing to building a better world.
CREATING IMPACT IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES - With a focus on Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean, LIPOR Projects contribute to the development of Countries, the waste management sector worldwide and People and communities.
LIPOR & PORTUGAL - SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP - A partnership of strength, with LIPOR being a reference and trusted brand for national and international players through successful partnerships and complementary skills.
It's been 13 years of creating impact, amounting to 31 services in 20 countries!
In 2024, LIPOR strengthened its strategic presence in the African and Latin American markets, with 7 services being provided in 6 countries, 5 new projects approved and 54 consultants in the Competences Pool.
The 2024 Annual Report of DNI - International Business Division was recently published, highlighting the services provided during the year:
- Maio Island, Cape Verde - CITRES: permanent technical assistance in the construction project for CITRES - Integrated Waste Collection and Treatment Center on Maio Island.
- Angola - Youth entrepreneurship: setting up workshops to repair household appliances and process plastic, training young people and women for self-employment.
- Luanda, Angola - Circular Economy: participation as a key expert in a European mission to structure a major project in the area of Circular Economy
- Barbados - KAP Study: development of a KAP (Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices) study, with the production of educational materials and the development of a training program for specific target groups - farmers, companies/businesses, schools.
- Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire - Optimizing waste management: technical study financed by the World Bank to optimize collection circuits and infrastructures and boost public-private partnerships.
- Tomiño, Spain: implementation of the new door-to-door selective collection model and monitoring.
- Latin America (IDB) - Peer Review: review and validation of the contents of the self-assessment and continuous improvement tool for waste operators.
