LIPOR leads the Community of Practice – Green and just transition, under the IURC programme

IURC – International Urban and Regional Cooperation is a programme funded by the European Union that aims to promote cooperation between cities and regions in the field of sustainable urban development and regional innovation. The IURC LAC 2025–2027 cycle focuses on strengthening collaboration in strategic areas such as clean energy, sustainable mobility, urban innovation, the circular economy, agri-food systems, industrial modernisation, the blue economy, climate change adaptation and social cohesion.

Within the framework of the IURC LAC programme (Latin America and the Caribbean), LIPOR International is part of the Green and Just Transition Community of Practice (CoP). This working group brings together representatives from the following regions: Greater Porto (Portugal), Chihuahua (Mexico), Hunedoara (Romania) and Valle del Cauca (Colombia).

Each Community of Practice (CoP) is co-led by a city or region from the European Union and a city or region from Latin America and the Caribbean. LIPOR has been appointed as the lead organisation of this COP.

In close collaboration with the Latin American co-lead, the Region of Chihuahua, LIPOR will be responsible for chairing meetings, driving the work plans, representing the CoP, systematising and sharing the knowledge generated throughout the cooperation period within the IURC-LAC network, as well as preparing the cooperation roadmap and ensuring the implementation of the respective action plan.

In 2026, LIPOR will host a technical week at its facilities, welcoming delegations from all member regions of this COP. This initiative will be jointly structured and planned together with the other three participating regions.
