LIPOR at the 3rd International Solid Waste Seminar | São Paulo, Brazil
At the invitation of the City of São Paulo and spRegula, LIPOR took part in the 3rd edition of the International Solid Waste Seminar, organized by LAVORO Solutions, held at the São Paulo City Hall auditorium on March 16 and 17.
LIPOR’s participation was highly active throughout the event, contributing in the following moments:
- Official Opening Session, representing the delegation of international speakers;
- Panel 4 | Territorial Planning, Environmental Licensing and Governance, as a discussant;
- Panel 6 | Regional Management, Challenges and Economic Scale, as keynote speaker, with the presentation "Four Decades of Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management in the Porto Metropolitan Area".
Portugal’s model and trajectory in urban waste management are highly valued by experts in the Brazilian sector, who are currently facing major challenges — closure of dumpsites, infrastructure development, collection efficiency, selective collection, compliance with PLANARES, territorial organization, concessions, among others — and who seek international experience as a source of inspiration and lessons learned, in order to identify the most suitable model for the various Brazilian contexts.
São Paulo, the host city of the conference, represents a reality quite distinct from the rest of the country and is positioning itself to become the first geographical area in Brazil to comply with the National Plan.
LIPOR is a Portuguese benchmark case recognized in Brazil as a success, making the alignment with its business model a natural step, with the aim of sharing historical milestones, key success factors, results and impact, as well as fostering partnerships and cooperation.
LIPOR also participated in the 1st Reverse Logistics Forum on March 18.waste.
