LIPOR strengthens recycling awareness at festivities and pilgrimages in its associated municipalities
With the arrival of the festivities and pilgrimage season, LIPOR is once again reinforcing awareness on best recycling practices at events held across its associated municipalities, continuing a proximity‑based project aimed at citizens, traders and local organisations.
Under the motto "Your waste is the missing piece", this initiative, developed in partnership with the associated municipalities, seeks to promote recycling habits in festive contexts, demonstrating that every correctly sorted item can help reduce the loss of recyclable raw materials.
Throughout the events, traders, exhibitors and visitors will find recycling equipment placed around the venues, as well as a clearly identified awareness team accompanying the festivities, clarifying questions and encouraging citizens to take an active role in recycling.
LIPOR’s investment in this awareness service at municipal public events such as festivals and pilgrimages, themed fairs, academic, cultural and sports initiatives reflects its commitment to bring recycling closer to people’s daily lives, even in moments of celebration.
In 2026, the initiative will be present, for now, at the following events:
Matosinhos
- Senhor de Matosinhos | 15 May to 7 June
- Hospitalários do Caminho de Santiago | September
Póvoa de Varzim
- Os Dias do Parque | 4 to 7 June
- Póvoa ao Ar Livre | 16 July to 6 September
Valongo
- Festas de Santa Rita | 12 to 15 June
- São João de Sobrado | 19 to 24 June
Other events will be added as confirmed.
Everyone’s participation makes a difference: at festivals and pilgrimages, recycling is also part of the celebration.
