Closing of the BE@T project reinforces commitment to circularity in the textile sector

On 28 May, the closing session of the BE@T project took place at the Porto Cruise Terminal in Leixões, Matosinhos.

With the development of a hundred new products, eighty research, development and innovation projects, the implementation of ten industrial pilot life-size projects and four digital platforms, the BE@T project accelerated the transition of the textile and clothing sector towards a circular bioeconomy.

The initiative also delivered 296 training programmes and capacity building actions, 121 awareness and communication campaigns, resulting in seventy seven scientific publications and the implementation of thirty five industrial symbioses.

Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with an investment of more than one hundred million euros, LIPOR was one of more than fifty entities (companies, universities and technology centres) involved in this transformative project.

Through physical characterisation campaigns of textiles and post-consumer textile waste, LIPOR was able to realize detailed knowledge of the composition of this heterogeneous stream and to design and implement the first Post Consumer Textile Sorting Pilot Unit in Portugal. A significant milestone in advancing circularity in textiles and clothing in Portugal.

LIPOR thanks CITEVE, all BE@T project partners and the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) for the opportunity to be part of this truly transformative initiative.
