Smart technologies are transforming waste management. Webinar presents real cases and lessons learned.
Digitalisation and artificial intelligence are redefining how waste is sorted, monitored and recovered, paving the way for more efficient, sustainable and data driven processes. It is in this context that LIPOR, Sogama, the University of A Coruña and the University of Beira Interior are organising the webinar "Application of smart digitalisation technologies in waste sorting – Lessons learned”, on 9 July. The initiative will bring together specialists, waste management entities, universities and technology companies from Portugal and Spain to share experiences and present innovative solutions for the sector.
The event will focus on the lessons learned so far within the GRESINT project, particularly the implementation of smart technologies applied to waste sorting. In addition to presenting the project, the programme includes contributions from experts in data governance, artificial intelligence and digital transformation, offering a comprehensive overview of the trends shaping the future of the circular economy.
Highlighted topics include data quality and management, the application of artificial intelligence to waste characterisation and sorting, as well as concrete examples of digital transformation developed by technology companies that are accelerating innovation in the sector.
The webinar will feature contributions from SOGAMA and LIPOR in the opening session, followed by the presentation of the GRESINT project by the University of A Coruña (UDC) and the University of Beira Interior (UBI). The programme also includes a session by Fernando Gualo, Executive Director of CISA and Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), dedicated to the fundamentals of data quality and management, a presentation by Greyparrot, an international reference in the application of artificial intelligence to waste characterisation, and a session by Inovalabs Digital focused on smart monitoring for more efficient operations.
More than a moment for sharing results, this webinar aims to promote knowledge exchange among waste management entities, researchers, technology companies and decision makers, encouraging collaboration and the adoption of digital solutions capable of answering to current challenges in waste management.
Participation is aimed at waste management technicians and managers, municipal technicians, innovation and digital transformation professionals, data and artificial intelligence specialists, technology companies, researchers, students and all professionals interested in the application of smart technologies to the circular economy.
