The beach leaves good marks. And you, what marks do you leave for it?
Summer invites us to enjoy the beach, the sea, and moments outdoors. But for these spaces to continue leaving good memories for everyone, they also need good attitudes.
Every year, thousands of pieces of waste end up on beaches and in oceans, endangering marine biodiversity and coastal ecosystems. Over the past century, the growth of industry, tourism, transportation, and consumption habits has led to an unprecedented increase in river and sea pollution. Most of this waste originates on land and results from behaviors such as leaving packaging on the sand or abandoning waste that the wind ends up carrying to the sea.
Although primarily responsible for this reality, we are also the ones with the greatest capacity to transform ourselves. Therefore, it is essential to raise awareness in communities about the importance of preserving the oceans, showing that marine litter begins with the choices they make every day, long before we reach the beach.
The good news is that change is within everyone's reach. Don't leave trash on the sand, use reusable solutions, dispose of waste correctly, and whenever possible, pick up the trash we find (video in Portuguese), even if it's not ours. These are small attitudes that make a huge difference.
Another way to contribute is through plogging, an activity that is also a walk or run to collect waste. In addition to promoting physical exercise, transform a stroll by the sea into an environmentally friendly action. Participating in or organizing beach clean-up actions is also an excellent way to involve family, friends, or the community in protecting our coastal ecosystems.
Every package collected, every piece of plastic removed from the sand represents a positive mark left on the planet. Because taking care of the beach doesn't just involve not leaving trash. It also involves acting when we find it and inspiring others to do the same.
These are the attitudes that make each of us a Natural of LIPOR: born for a sustainable lifestyle. A lifestyle built with conscious choices, respect for the environment, and a desire to build more sustainable communities.
Take part in the change. Become a volunteer, participate in a cleanup action, or organize an initiative on your beach. Because protecting the sea starts long before you arrive at the beach.
