LIPOR's Banco de Bens (Goods Bank) gives new life to objects, turning reuse into environmental and social impact

LIPOR reinforces its commitment to Waste Prevention through the Banco de Bens (Goods Bank), an initiative that promotes the reuse of used goods in good condition, extending their useful life and ensuring that they continue to generate value for people, institutions, and communities.

Integrated into LIPOR's circular waste management model, Banco de Bens (Goods Bank) emerges as an environmental and social response, based on the principle of reuse before replacing; given another chance before discarding.

In a society marked by increasingly rapid consumption cycles, many objects are removed from their original function, despite remaining fully usable. Furniture, electrical and electronic equipment, and other goods can find new contexts where they continue to be useful, avoiding the acquisition of new equipment and reducing the waste of resources.

Through this project, LIPOR promotes the internal reuse of its own assets and enables free donation to social entities, such as Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), or other organizations with identified needs.

More than just a platform for forwarding goods, Banco de Bens (Goods Bank) reinforces LIPOR's social responsibility, supporting entities that develop community-based work and represents a shift in perspective, as each reused object is a valued resource, a created opportunity, and a concrete way to contribute to a more circular and low-carbon economy.

To give visibility to this initiative, LIPOR is launching the campaign "I still have a lot to give”, a creative approach that places the objects themselves at the centre of the narrative.

Instead of communicating the end of the use of the goods, the campaign highlights everything they can still do. Tables, chairs, cabinets, or equipment gain a voice to remind us that their value does not disappear when they are no longer needed in each context.

Through simple, relatable, and humorous messages, objects become the protagonists of their own stories, inviting the community to see them not as waste, but as resources with the potential to continue making a difference.

LIPOR's Banco de Bens (Goods Bank) is born from the conviction that sustainability also involves how we value what already exists. Each reused item represents less waste, less resource consumption, and more positive impact. It's a bridge between the moment an object is no longer needed in one place and the opportunity to continue being useful in another.

Because, often, what has lost its function for someone may be exactly what another person or institution is looking for.
