LIPOR and IDB sign a Letter of Commitment
LIPOR and IDB - Inter-American Development Bank signed a letter of commitment, strengthening institutional liaison and confidence in the skills of both institutions in the development of Waste Management Projects.
The IDB proposed the integration of LIPOR as a Peer Review of a Project that is being promoted. The project consists of developing a continuous improvement tool for operators of solid waste systems to aggregate information and waste management indicators. The tool, which will be voluntary, will be available for use by Municipalities and waste management operators in Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The Project team is multidisciplinary, made up of IDB representatives and consultants, with the participation of municipal operators and pilots in the region and now, with the participation of Portugal, represented by LIPOR.
The tool aims to improve the performance of waste management entities, stimulating a process of institutional transformation to achieve financial, administrative and operational sustainability and a circular economy.
Therefore, LIPOR will have the mission of reviewing and validating content, evaluating plans, and identifying opportunities for improvement and transformation.
LIPOR is considered a successful business case for the IDB, being a reference in its governance model. It also develops projects and initiatives that are inspirational for many Latin American and Caribbean countries and that the IDB classifies as having a high potential for replication and adaptation in its target geographies.
A team of highly qualified and experienced LIPOR consultants was deployed to support this Mission, which will take place over 9 months.
It is worth remembering that, in recent years, LIPOR has adopted an internationalization strategy based on valuing its know-how, which has more than 40 years of experience. A strategy that has allowed LIPOR to win international contracts and consolidate its position with the main multilateral institutions.
