Citizens can submit their projects until March 27

Within the scope of the recently created Matosinhos Climate Transition Citizenship Laboratory, the first promoted in Portugal, citizens can now submit their applications. Until March 27, projects can be presented in the areas of mobility, food, energy and consumption with the aim of mobilizing the community to change habits in these areas, reducing the target of carbon neutrality to 85% by 2030.

Citizens of Matosinhos involved in the associative, business or local administration, or interested in collective causes, can now submit their action proposals in the identified areas that will be worked on in collaborative sessions in parish unions that will take place during the months of April and May.

These sessions will be mediated by a team from the Planning and Public Policy Laboratory of the Aveiro University, the scientific partner in this initiative, to be subsequently experimented on the ground through low-cost activities with a quick and mobilizing impact during the month of June.

It should be noted that citizen laboratories are collaborative spaces for prototyping solutions and experimentation, through low-cost and quick-visibility measures, involving citizens, administration and experts in mediated work. They are promoted in open, inclusive and decentralized spaces, open to all citizens, specialists and non-specialists, allowing collective needs and desires to be heard, the meeting of knowledge and skills and providing an opportunity to experiment with new ways of conceiving projects.

Parallel to this call for ideas, two climate assemblies will be organized aimed at children and young people in the municipality, involving schools, parents' associations, youth associations and municipal teams related to the theme.
