Mobile drop-off sites to deliver small hazardous waste, in Porto, is already on the move

The Municipality of Porto and LIPOR will start collecting hazardous urban waste that, until now, was not accepted in ordinary drop-off sites like remnants of paints and solvents, CDs and DVDs and cork stoppers. These new mobile containers are available at the Antas and Prelada drop-off sites.

In line with the Municipality's environmental sustainability policies, Porto Ambiente will now be able to guarantee the valorisation of these types of local urban waste in the city.

The mobile drop-off site, acquired under the POSEUR program, also allows to receive lamps (tubular and normal), ink cartridges / toners, batteries and accumulators and small waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) of small dimensions such as pressing irons, electric knives or shavers, scales, etc.

The main idea of the project consists in the permanence, during a determined period of time, of the equipment in different zones, allowing to cover the maximum population with the objective of collecting domestic and other recoverable waste along the city.

The container also has the ColorAdd system, allowing colour-blind people to easily identify the containers, as well as all the appropriate signs for the correct identification and deposition of waste.

Another step that the Municipality of Porto and LIPOR take, towards the objective of environmental sustainability.
