The Commitments

A sustainability strategy for the next decade

As part of our commitment to sustainability, we have integrated climate change into our business strategy, assuming our responsibilities as both a producer and manager of greenhouse gases (GHG), as well as an agent for driving knowledge, action, and mobilization among citizens and society. The adoption of the LIPOR 4M strategy – less Waste, less Carbon, more Climate, more Biodiversity – represents our commitment to action, aiming to contribute simultaneously to meeting climate policy goals at the European Union, Portuguese, and Porto Region levels.

It was in this context of responsibility that, in 2006, we committed to fight climate change as an integral part of our strategy.

  • Less Waste, focusing on the efficient management of Resources, favouring a circular Business model;
  • Less Carbon, enhancing the Carbon-Energy binomial, converging towards decarbonization and energy transition;
  • More Climate, strengthening our commitment to adapt to climate change;
  • More Biodiversity, increasing the promotion of biodiversity in our business context.

José Manuel Ribeiro, Chairman of LIPOR’s Board of Directors, announced, building on the results and facing the challenges of the next decade, as well as the strategic objective of diversifying activities and businesses, LIPOR is reinforcing its commitment to reducing emissions by 50% by 2030, cutting its emissions in half compared to 2006.

Furthermore, as LIPOR believes in the transition to a competitive, circular, resilient, and carbon-neutral economy, it has also announced its ambition to achieve climate neutrality by 2045. Learn more
