World Youth Day 2023: Together, we give sustainability a voice!

On the 6th August, we were present at the Sending Mass, at Campo da Graça in Lisbon, as a result of the partnership with the WYD Lisboa 2023 Foundation, supporting what we consider to be the greatest event of sustainability and HUMANITY.

Sustainability was, from the outset, the focus of WYD Lisbon 2023, reinforcing the axes: social sustainability and environmental sustainability.

Together with the Local Organizing Committee (COL), Lisbon City Council, Loures City Council, Electrão, ERP, EPAL, Novo Verde, Sociedade Ponto Verde, SIMAR, Valorsul, Laudato Si' Movement, National Scout Corps, EFG, Associação de Cleaning Urbana, EGF - Environment Global Facilities and Project Group for WYD Lisbon 2023 (XXIII Government), we publish the Commitment Letter, which highlights the fact that we intend to "make sustainability a central objective of the organization of World Youth Day Lisbon 2023”.

In addition, we prepared, together, the Handbook of Good Practices for a Sustainable Journey - Young people taking care of our Common Home - for all those who made WYD Lisbon 2023 possible, from the COL, the Diocesan Organizing Committees (COD), parishes, entities and institutions.

Responding, still to the challenge launched by the World Youth Day Foundation (WYD) Lisbon 2023, in partnership with the Global Tree Initiative (GTI), on the 28th January, at LIPOR's Adventure Park & Ecological Trail, we promoted a tree plantation, raising awareness of the importance of biodiversity and climate change, raising awareness of its effects.
